This Genuine OEM Audi Retrofit for the A4/S4/RS4 B9 (Pre-Facelift) is for Hill Hold Assist.

Hill Hold Assist provides added convienence when coming to a standstill or on a gradient. Instead of having to put the car in "Park" or manually put the handbrake on by lifting the parking brake button, as you come to a standstill the car will automatically apply the parking brake which is indicated by a green "P" on the Dashboard/Virtual Cockpit.

To disengage you simply drive away. Extremely convienent and helpful, especially in urban driving conditions with a lot of starting and stopping.
